Metal chips do not define a magnetic application
Two enquiries can both say metal chips and describe different conveying tasks. Identify the actual material, its shape and its condition on leaving the machine before selecting a beltless magnetic conveyor. A machining application alone does not establish suitability.
Eriez describes its chip-and-parts conveyors for ferrous materials. Storch describes magnets moving beneath a stationary slider bed, with release at discharge. Those descriptions identify a mechanism and material family; they do not approve an unspecified mixture from a particular production line.
Test the normal sample and the awkward sample
Prepare the sample description with upstream operators. Identify work material, chip forms, retained liquid and other items that may arrive. Ask which variations the supplier needs and how samples should be prepared. Sending only the cleanest fraction may leave the actual duty unrepresented.
Storch offers sample testing to assess suitability. Record what was tested, the arrangement and the conditions demonstrated. Moving one sample successfully is evidence about that test, not a capacity or compatibility guarantee for every subsequent machining job.
Agree where material and liquid will go
Show the inlet, route, receiving container and access for changing it. Ask about material presentation and discharge requirements. Record whether collection or drainage is included and who handles the interface with the machine's liquid system. Naming wet chips does not purchase a complete coolant installation.
An enclosed mechanism still needs the manufacturer's inspection instructions, service access and a procedure for blockages under site isolation rules. Keep the acceptance test with the layout and quotation. The photograph shows shavings on a magnet for context, not a supplier trial. The diagram is a generic explanation, not a manufacturer design.
Manufacturer announcements and our analysis are distinguished. Product claims require verification for the specific application.
